Brent M. Johnston
Choral Director
Mr. Johnston is a graduate of WFB and proud to return to his roots and contribute to the community. He earned his BFA in Music Education, Choral and General, K-12 from UW-Milwaukee and earned his Masters in Educational Leadership from Cardinal Stritch University. Mr. Johnston previously taught at Cudahy HS and Lakes Community HS. Mr. Johnston is also the 2018 Civic Music Association Vocal Music Educator of the year award recipient.Â
Mr. Johnston is a Bass section leader and active member of the Bel Canto Chorus of Milwaukee. He has experience performing in Opera, Musical Theatre, Assistand Director and Bass section leader for the Midwest Express Barbershop Chorus, and as a guest soloist.
Cantorei
Auditioned
Cantorei is the top level auditioned extra curricular ensemble. They perform all styles of music and perform out in the community as well as school concerts. One of the highlights for the year is the annual Pops concert for this group.
Concert Choir
Curricular Choir
Concert Choir is our entry level SATB ensemble. Emphasis on fundamentals of vocal production, ensemble skills, and music literacy are created through accessible repertoire of multiple genres.
Bel Canto
Curricular
Bel Canto is a Mixed Voice SATB Choir comprised of students with prior WFBHS Choir experience. This choir is rigorous, studies all time periods and styles of music with an emphasis on the highest quality choral repertoire. Students perform in concerts, assemblies, trips, and special clinic and tour outings.
Treble Choir
Curricular
Treble Choir is comprise of SSAA Treble voices. This is an intermediate group with a focus on development of the voice, part division, expression, and teamwork. This group is at the heart of the choral program and is place for rapid growth. Students study multiples styles and music from renaissance through modern times. Prior WFBHS choir experience is preferred for success in this class.
Tower Singers
Extra Curricular Choir
Tower Singers is a Bass clef voiced choir. They meet once per week Mondays at lunch and perform at concerts opening with the school "Tower Song". Styles of music are Barbershop, A' Cappella, and Pop arrangements. Students often arrange pieces for the group. The group also participates in the annual UW-Milwaukee "Real Men Sing" event.
Bay Belles
Extra Curricular
Bay Belles (formerly "That Group") is an all female choir that meets once per week Mondays at Lunch. They sing mostly A' Cappella and Pop arrangements. The group is a lot of fun to be in and accepts everyone regardless of experience.
